Baby #3 Brings New Sense of Calm

September 18, 2015 by momindcity 16 Comments

Oh hey, MomInDCity readers. It’s only been an ENTIRE YEAR since I’ve written. Not much has happened. Just, you know… got pregnant and had a “boring baby,” as Zana likes to call him. “Why do babies have to be so boring??” she has asked on multiple occasions.

I don’t know, dude. How do you think I feel? I’m the one who hangs out with him all day. She also refers to “the baby” in air quotes. I have no idea what that means.

"the baby" *in air quotes

Lorik (baby #3) was born June 17 and has been making our house a total snooze-fest ever since. Not really. That would mean people were actually snoozing, and we all know that isn’t happening. Lorik has turned our lives upside down. The house is a (even more of a) disaster, there’s always someone screaming and crying—and I haven’t even gotten to the kids. They’re doing great.

Between ballet, gymnastics, running club and soccer… and more soccer… I got bored, so here I am back to blogging. The other day at ballet, a mom friend of mine said “Where’s the baby?! I’ve never seen you without him!” And for a split second, I didn’t know the answer. Had I become one of those “whoops I left the car seat on top of the car moms?” Oh wait, BeeBop (my mom) is in town. Whew.

And it’s because of that, that I currently have two free hands and am able to type. I mean, my foot is still on the bouncy seat, but it’s almost like I’m taking a break!

Where’s BeeBop, you ask? Making me look good to the PTA moms by baking up a storm for the bake sale.

It’s true, I’m superwoman.

So let’s see if this boring baby lets me write a little more often. Until then… please leave me your juggling act tips in the comment section.

I loved the magical bouncy chair! No tips to offer, though, as I was in a daze for the first year (and only have that one kid). I might still be in a daze, come to think of it…congrats on finding a moment to entertain us, though!

    cheers!

None of the other chairs compare to the bouncy. Somehow how forgot that and still have all the other ones, too.

I gave her lots of hugs. She left today and I’ve been moping around ever since. Hope all is well with you! XOXO

    Thoughts in no particular order:
    (a) We need to re-start our Wednesday post-ballet, but on Thursdays and no longer therefore “post-ballet” (air quotes intentional).
    (b) Are you still taking pre-natal vitamins? Because your hair is super glossy and envy-inducing.
    (c) I have got to meet this baby “Lorik”.
    (d) Send Lira and Zana to our house when you’re bored with them. Zola is dying to have her friends meet her guinea pig … who is also keeping our household awake. But not as much as Lorik likely is.

Agree on restarting “Wednesday post-ballet” – and I meant to include Wednesday in air quotes b/c even though it will take place on Thursdays (which I am all for since Sasha has soccer Weds evenings), I’ll still refer to it as “Wednesday post ballet.” Miss our get-togethers and talking shop (i.e, what we’re all wearing).

      Love this blog post!

You totally motivated me to write again! A mom said to me “Kid Friendly DC” mentioned you in her blog and I just love both of you and read your stuff all the time!” And I was like… ummmmm. Crap. I should really give people something to read… at least once a year.

      (a) I love “post-ballet” nights! Let’s do it.
      (b) I think it’s just the grease from not having time to wash it, but thank you dah’ling!
      (c) Did you see him at the Yard Sale today??? If not, let’s make it happen.
      (d) Oh you know I will.

Welcome back! LOL on the air quotes for baby Lorik. Kids are hilarious. He’s adorable by the way.

Wait, so you’re saying having baby #3 isn’t super easy because you’ve already got 2 and are basically an expert mom already? That baby #3 doesn’t basically raise himself because he’s so chill and easy going? Hmmm….makes me rethink having another…

All kidding aside (I’m NOT having a 3rd), balance is all about making priorities and letting some things fall by the wayside right? My house isn’t as clean as I want it. I don’t workout as often as I want to. I actually don’t workout these days. But, I read more. I blog more than I thought I would. And I get more sleep! You might have a few weeks/months before you “get more sleep”. My solution to that: sleep training. It sucks for a few days but the rewards are priceless. I just sleep trained my 2 yo. My husband thanks me.

Ah sleep training… I’m pretty sure Dave is ready for me to do that with Lorik and he’s only 4 months old. Maybe when you’ve been sleeping for a while you’ll be ready for #3 after all!
